Craig & Betty Ann
Betty Ann and I spent the week of February 11 in Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo for a little fun, shopping, relaxation, and some work. The work could easily be listed in the fun category however. Betty Ann was reporting and I was photographing the Niños Adelante awards ceremony for Impacto Latino, a Sonoma Valley magazine in California. Several Sonomans were instrumental in the program and we featured them in the article.

As you'll see, I took many more pictures than we needed for the article. I wanted to show Zihuatanejo the town, rather than as two tourists documenting their vacation. We begin with La Ropa, everybody's favorite beach, then to Zehuatenejo in general; shopping, fishing, restaurants, a sunset booze-cruise, the Mexican resort where we stayed, and other places you can stay. I hope you enjoy the website.

Playa La Ropa
Hmmm ....shop or eat? Why not both?

We didn’t spend much time on La Ropa. We preferred the activity around town and on the Playa Municipal. I could have parked myself at any restaurant, ordered a cerveza and tapas, and spent the day completely entertained. What a great place this is!

An easy stroll to town.
Great comidas and inexpensive. Well cooked is safest..
We stayed in Ixtapa and took the bus, or collectivo, to Zihua by day. The fare is 6 pesos, about 60 cents. We took the cab home after dark, 50 pesos, about $5.00. While travel guides say tipping is not expected, I can’t get out of a cab without tipping. I tip a 10 peso coin.
Musicians will hop on the bus and play a song or two, then ask for tips.
If the music is good, I'll tip from 2 to 5 pesos. If not ...well, follow the lead of the locals on the bus.
How much will he tip?
